Celebrating the next generation of IDTA talent
The IDTA and TDA Committee is thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to our prestigious calendar of events – the Junior Theatre Dance Awards (JTDA), set to debut in early 2026. This eagerly anticipated event is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the incredible young talent within the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA).
Following the success of the Junior Workshops this year, the Junior Theatre Dance Awards will closely follow the esteemed format of the Theatre Dance Awards (TDA), offering a unique experience to prepare our younger dancers for the existing TDA and showcase their talent. This event is specifically designed for Grade 2 and Grade 3 candidates who demonstrate exceptional skill and artistry in their IDTA core subjects: Ballet, Tap, Contemporary Modern Jazz, and Theatre Craft.
To qualify for nomination, candidates must achieve an outstanding mark of 92% or higher in their examinations. Starting from November 1st, 2024, through October 31st, 2025, IDTA examiners will be nominating these exceptional young dancers, with the most talented being selected to participate in the awards ceremony in early 2026.
“We are incredibly excited to launch the Junior Theatre Dance Awards,” said the TDA Committee. “This event will not only highlight the remarkable achievements of our young dancers but also encourage them to continue pursuing their passion for dance with dedication and enthusiasm.”
The Junior Theatre Dance Awards promises to be a spectacular celebration of young talent, offering a glimpse into the future of theatre dance. We look forward to showcasing the next generation of IDTA stars and providing them with the recognition they deserve.
