Peggy Spencer was my idol when I started dancing in 1974. She encouraged me all the time and helped learn the popular Variations with Mr. G. Hearn. I hold the utmost respect for her and it saddens me to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family.Bassam Hanafi
Although I haven’t been in contact with Peggy for some years she was a great inspiration to me in my early years of teaching and helped me a great deal with a junior dance team. I am so sorry to hear such sad news and offer my sincere condolences to her family, she will be sadly missed by the whole of the dance profession. Pauline McDonald
I used to compete, as a child, at her Kent Championships 50 years ago and 19 years ago my teenage daughter was partnered with one of her male pupils for a while. For me, Peggy Spencer and dancing has always gone hand in hand. A great loss for the dancing world.Lynn Chapman
So sorry to learn of the death of Peggy Spencer MBE. I did not know her personally but I did attend all the I.D.T.A. disco workshops held in London. She was very strict but commanded respect and I thought a lot of her. She knew how important it was for us teachers to pass on simple ways of remembering variations and routines to our pupils. She was an excellent ambassador for dance and was very eloquent in expressing the views of the dance world. She will be sadly missed.Gill Ward
