Further on from Mental Health Awareness Week last week, Vicky Race from Dance School Safeguarding Services will be hosting a Q and A session on the IDTA Instagram page on Wednesday 24th May 2023. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have on how to support the emotional wellbeing of dancers, teachers and yourself.
Vicky has worked in education, the emergency services and social care, spending 15 years of her career as a Specialist Safeguarding and Social Care Trainer for her Local Authority.
She has worked for the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership, training social workers, police officers, teachers, nursery staff and charity workers.
She specialises in both child and adult safeguarding at all levels, and in her previous role, trained over 4000 people per year.
In addition, she has delivered high level professional training to social workers on attachment theory, child development, social care assessment, information sharing and data protection, inclusion and anti-oppressive practice, supervisory management, and safeguarding enquiry. Vicky currently works as a Specialist Safeguarding Consultant to the dance industry.
Vicky manages Dance School Safeguarding Services and is proud to have provided training and support for over 400 independent dance schools across the UK. As a qualified dance teacher and dance school owner, Victoria understands both good safeguarding practice and the world of dance, and works to bring the two together to improve the quality of safeguarding across our profession.
Don’t forget to submit your question on Wednesday 24th May!
